Lending a helping hand to the victims of Harvey

Hurricane Harvey slammed into the Texas coast on Friday, August 25, 2017. Harvey, the strongest storm to hit the United States in over a decade, according to the National Hurricane Center, made landfall between Port Aransas and Port O’ Connor, Texas as a Category Four storm Friday night.

Hurricane Harvey, brought a record-breaking amount of rain. It transformed many Houston roads and highways into rivers. The Weather Service reported that Houston picked up more than 49 inches of rain. As of August 31, the death toll has reached at least 31 people.

Our hearts are with Houston. More than 30,000 people have sought shelter according to FEMA, and the flooding and rain has not stopped yet. The levee at Columbia lakes breached Tuesday, and Brazoria County officials urged residents to evacuate August 29, as water levels continue to rise.

Texas is a strong state and our community will work to overcome this disaster together, but our brothers and sisters south of us need our help. Energy Weldfab will be making a donation in honor of our partners located in south Texas.

We also encourage other businesses to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and applaud those that have already stepped up.

There are many ways to aid to the Harvey victims. Some organizations offering immediate assistance include Disney day of Giving, American Red Cross, The National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, Catholic Charities USA, Save the Children and Austin Pets Alive!. Now is your chance to be a part of the community that helps restore the great state of Texas during this tragic time.

Continue to keep Houston and the victims of Hurricane Harvey in your prayers.
